Hunger Games Film Casting Rant And Praise
A look at the book to film casting.
Of course with Book to film and Cartoon to Film, people would want actors who resemble their characters, I am inclined to be among those people who want their imaginations to come to life as well but I'm not going to go on ranting like others would have.
For Katniss, im actually impressed.The actress is very talented and has the eyes and build albeit she is a bit tall for my taste.I pictured Katniss as being around 5'2"-5'4".
The Hair can be dyed so please don't cry about that.
She is set to portray the 16 year old, slim and short, black haired and light grey eyed Katniss Everdeen.A game hunter.
The Problem i have with her is that she looks to old to play 16 year old Katniss Everdeen.
For Peeta, I'm below moderate.Josh Hutcherson is not really good of an actor himself and is kinda small for the role of Peeta who is mean't to be big shouldered and maybe taller than 5'5.5".According to Collins pictures, his face is right for the role, his hair can be dyed but his acting abilities are questionable and his size is weak.
He is set to portray the Medium height, Blond haired Blue eyed and strong shouldered Peeta Mellark.
Effie Trinket is the Pink Haired/ Wigged District 12 escort who doesnt show up much in the book but is still an important character.I dont mind Elizabeth Banks taking the role.Heck she was made for this casting.Actually shes exactly how i imagined Effie Trinket.Effie Trinket the Pink Haired, Pale-ish skinned, happy go lucky Reaper.
For Gale, yick.Im not saying that because i am a Kiwi, but im saying it because Liam Hemsworth cannot pull off a Hunters appearance nor can he hold a strong acting presence.Yes i've seen 20 minutes of the last song and it sucked more than the first 50 pages of the book.
Since Gale is only a supporting character in the first book and film, Liam wont have to strike out to much Acting skills.His hair needs to be dyed, skin tanned to not look so fake and he needs to tone down abit on the mass.
I'll tolerate him in the film as long as better actors are cast.I don't get it, why do people think he is good looking? This is wh American Girls go for Aussie Guys and Aussie Girls go for Kiwi Guys.
Hemsworth is set to play the Lean built, Jet black haired, silver eyed hunter named Gale.
For Glimmer, dang.Leven Rambin is sexy all the way....its to bad she got this role! lol :) i dont know much of her acting but she does look the part and Glimmer isn't exactly a major role.Minor actors make for good minor characters.
Playing as Glimmer, the District 1 girl who is tall, blond and wanted.
For Rue, looks good but her resume is non-existent.Amandla Stenberg is a brand new actress into the scene and no one knows if she is a good actress.If she is the same age as Rue(12) then there may be some problems.being under 16, the problem will be on the Director and Film Crew for her death.....like to see how she can pull it off and how her parents handle it :p.
She has the right look for the role of the Dark Olive Skinned, darkish eyes and haired Rue.
For Prim, is that McDonalds? When i see a mono-brow, i say McDonalds ok.Willow Shields is another unknown actress taking to the scene so i don t have alot to say about her.She looks alright for the part but its the acting im worried about.
Prim is Blond, Blue eyed and small.Shes got the right look.....McDonalds.
For Thresh, Hmmmm i dont know.When i thought of Thresh, i imagined someone who was 6'6" with a Samoan look to him but not African Black.Again, an unknown actor so i cant say much.He's not what i imagined Thresh to look like but i can tolerate it as long as he can act even if Thresh is hardly seen.
Thresh is the 6 and a half foot(6.5/6'6") with dark skin(doesnt have to be black), short hair, and an imposing build.
Looking at Dayo's pictures, he looks closer to 6'2".
For Mummy, Alright.Paula Malcomson has experience and she could hopefully bring some light to this film.She wont have to do to much for the acting since her role is supporting.Good choice.
Mrs.Everdeen is a Blond haired, blue eyed woman aged 41.
Overall, the 3 main actors have some problems with size and experience.Jennifer Lawrence does have acting skill over the others which would save face for her.The 2 male actors are a problem for me both in acting skill and appearance.The Actor for Thresh is also a problem for me too since thats not how Thresh was described to me.
Honestly, i hope Woody Harrelson takes Haymitch :), he's a talented actor and has that right look for a Drunken 41 year old man.
There have been other casts for the roles of Foxface and the District 4 Tributes but i cant be bothered remembering their names since again, they are unknown actors.
Any other opinions? Was i fair to the choice of actors in the cast? Im a little disappointed for the choice of the director who seems to lack experience aswell.I geuss they're trying to save money.
I sense another Twilight and i really hope it wont turn out that way.The Hugner Games is a GREAT book series deserving of some better recognition.
